Are you passionate about education and fluent in Welsh? SET Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to support students across primary and secondary schools in Aberdare.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pupils’ learning while using your Welsh language skills in a supportive and dynamic classroom environment.

Whether you have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant, or Learning Support Assistant, or have supported children in other educational or youth settings, we want to hear from you.


Role Responsibilities

As a Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to Welsh-speaking pupils, ensuring full engagement with the curriculum

  • Assisting teachers in planning and implementing tailored learning activities

  • Fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued

  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and staff to monitor student progress and implement effective strategies

  • Upholding school policies and procedures, promoting a safe and respectful learning environment

This role offers the chance to support students’ development while building valuable experience in bilingual education.


Requirements

The ideal Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Fluency in Welsh and English, with strong communication skills in both languages

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school or educational setting

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting student learning and development

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of pupils and schools

Relevant teaching or SEN qualifications are desirable but not essential.


Working Hours

  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday, following school operating hours

  • Opportunities across primary and secondary Welsh-medium schools in South Wales

The final daily rate of pay will depend on relevant experience.
